Hay River and Fort Smith, NT—The 2018 South Slave Arctic Winter Games Host Society is excited to announce the theme song for this year’s Games: “Be The Ones” was co-written and recorded by multiple Juno award-winning singer songwriter Serena Ryder, and co-written and produced by Grammy and Oscar nominated composer Stephan Moccio, and Jay Paul Bicknell.
“Be the Ones” shares strong messages that everyone can relate to and be excited by. “Taking back the power of our lives to live / I know we’re ready,” the song lyrics align with the AWG theme for all participants, volunteers and supporters, to “Find Your Power.” The theme song is always such an important element of the Games, echoing the strength, dedication and spirit of the athletes and communities. It unites the circumpolar north and encourages camaraderie, with friendly and fierce competition throughout the Games, and then continues on in our hearts and heads on our playlist.
“We know that ‘Be The Ones’ will inspire all participants and will raise awareness of the AWG on both a national and international stage,” added Greg Rowe, Host Society President. “The song carries the spirit of the North and the spirit of what the Games are all about.”
