Snowboarding competition at the Arctic Winter Games will happen on newly constructed snowboarding park on the banks for the majestic Slave River in the heart of Fort Smith. In 2018 Snowboarding will consist of three events: banked slalom, slopestyle, and boardercross, with Ulus awarded for individual events as well as a combined individual ranking.
Competition categories includes both male and females in Junior (born 2002 or later) and Juvenile (born 2004 or later) ages. A team consists of up to 4 male and 4 female athletes and 2 coaches. Teams that regularly participate in snowboarding include Alaska, Yukon, Alberta North, Northwest Territories and Greenland.
In 2018 the snowboarding events will be held at Riverside Park in Fort Smith.
