How can I find more information about the trials for each participating contingent?

You will need to contact your contingent or your governing sport organization that is hosting the trials for more information.

What are the office holiday hours?

Over the holidays the Games offices will be closed from December 22 - January 1. If you have a question email info@awg2018.org. Have a fantastic holiday season!

Where are the games being held?

The AWGs are jointly hosted between the communities of Hay River and Fort Smith of the South Slave Region of the Northwest Territories.

How big will the Games be?

The games will have over 1,900 athletes, 250 officials, 100 cultural performers, and 2,000 volunteers.

Which sports are involved?

The 2018 Arctic Winter Games is currently set to feature 19 sports, in four categories: Traditional sports - Arctic sports (eg high kick, kneel jump, arm pull) - Dene games (eg finger pull, snowsnake, pole push) - Dog mushing Nordic sports - Biathlon ski - Biathlon snowshoe - Cross country skiing - Snowshoeing - Snowboarding Indoor sports - Badminton - Basketball - Gymnastics - Soccer - Table Tennis - Volleyball - Wrestling Ice sports - Curling - Figure skating - Hockey - Speed skating

When will the Games be held?

The 25th edition of the Arctic Winter Games will be held March 18-24, 2018.

Who takes part in the Arctic Winter Games?

The participating teams are: Alaska, Greenland, Northern Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavik, Nunavut, Sapmi, Yamal and Yukon

How can I find accommodation in Fort Smith or Hay River?

Unfortunately there are limited accommodations options available in the two communities, however we are anticipating additional bed and breakfast options to be promoted in the very near future. Also, we are finalizing some additional scheduled flight options to and from Yellowknife to accommodate additional visitors. This information will become available next month. Keep watch on our website and social media pages for additional information.
